Fashion lookbook: Week 8

Wendy Nguyen. I find her inspiration in art, nature, culture, architecture, food, people, and music. And for me, fashion is a compilation of all that. Fashion is a vehicle for me to play with shapes and colors in order to uncover my personal style.

Trunk Show week 7

trunk show is a special sale in which vendors present merchandise directly to store personnel or select customers at a retail location or another unique venue. In many cases it allows store personnel to preview and/or purchase merchandise before it is made available to the public. Sometimes, trunk shows sell remnant and leftover items from runways, samples, and so on. Trunk shows are so named because dresses used to be transported to these events in trunks. I never attend a trunk show before one day eventually I will but in doing this blog i see that truck shows are particularly popular in the bridal industry, in which January through May is trunk show season. At trunk shows, brides can view a larger selection of a bridal designer's collection than is normally carried in a bridal salon.
In doing this research I came across a online virtual trunk show which is gaining traction in the luxury sector. Bergdorf Goodman held its first virtual trunk show in 2010, and Salvatore Ferragamo launched its first online show in August 2011. Linda Fargo of Bergdorf labeled virtual trunk shows "the future." Retailers add behind-the-scenes footage and customers make online purchases, usually pre-season and at full price.

Blog 6 Fashion show

I came across two shows that I really like the Dior RTW Spring 2014 and the Rick Owens RTW Spring 2014 two totally different shows but both caught my attention. What i like about the Dior show was the Miles of hanging wisteria, roses, vines and branches that created a dense, mysterious wonderland. And what I loved about the Rick Owen show is that he used real women from four American college step teams — the Zetas, Washington Divas, Soul Steppers and Momentum. and by looking through the pictures i could see that they had no makeup on it was just Real and raw, with no trace of sugar-coat.

Color and Windows Display Blog #5

As I walked up and down fifth avenue where I work I notice that there really ere no colors in the store displays that pop to me. Much of the colors were dark Emerald Green, and Light Grey. The first picture is H&M where I worked. I asked my visual manager why the colors in the window so dark and her answer was well who do you know wears popping colors in the fall/winter season. she then went on to say it is all about layering and feeling warm. as the other pictures Urban Outfitters and Elie Tahafi I just kind of like their window display Urban window was fun to look at well Elie window was more and the creative side but his colors were as dark as H&M's.

New York Fashion Blog: Week four

Etro Gets an Assist From Grandma

Veronica Etro got the idea for her spring Etro collection while visiting her grandmother’s country home, where she noticed the textiles on a patterned bookshelf and decided to bring them back to life. These she combined with metalwork from the Ottoman Empire and a touch of Eastern dressing, along with some signature Etro paisleys for a strong show on Friday.
MILAN FASHION WEEK
Coverage from in and around the Milan shows.
The colors veered from soft, iridescent pastels to vivid yellows with a black vine print on scarf dresses and wraps. The hits were the long paisley halters worn with with gold-fringed scarves loosely tied around the neck.

I really liked the fact that Veronica Etro got the idea for her spring Etro collection while visiting her grandmother. This goes to prove that inspirations not only comes from what we see everyday but it comes from the most unusual places such as textiles on a patterned bookshelf with  combined metalwork from the Ottoman Empire and a touch of Eastern dressing, along with some signature Etro paisleys. However, I wished that ERIC WILSON  would have went more into details explaining the type of fabric he see and more in debt detail about the designs and  Silhouette.
